Dosbarth Cymraeg U3A - Gorffennaf 2009
U3A Welsh Class – July 2009
Helo, eto! (Hello, again).
Mae’n flin gyda fi, ond fi sy’ ma eto – Ynys. I’m sorry, but it is I again – Ynys.
Gofynodd Mari i mi i sgrifennu ychydig o linellau am y dosbarth Cymraeg. Mari asked me to write a few lines about the Welsh class. Obviously, I wrote far too much last time, but anyone who knows me will verify that I am so boring (dw i’n mor diflas), that I can’t say anything in a few words.
Well! The class continues to flourish, although it would be good to have some new blood join us. We are diligently working through our text book, ‘Dosbarth Nos’ – ‘Night School’ – and making good progress. Most of the work is revision, but we all need reminding of topics we have previously covered. Our mantra is ‘Ymarfer, ymarfer, ymarfer!’ ‘Practise, practise, practise!’ That sounds a bit familiar, you say.
Unlike some of the other language groups, we do not have to holiday abroad to the home of the language – ours is on our doorstep. But, maybe, a trip to San Fagan could be arranged, when the language of the day would have to be Cymraeg. That would test us.
The next critical event for us is the Christmas Carol Concert. Mae pen tost gyda fi pryd dwi’n meddwl amdani hi. I have a headache when I think about it. ‘Ymarfer, ymarfer, ymarfer!’ At least we have one good singer, Marge Davies, to add a little respectability. Mae Mari yn Sant dioddef inni ni, ond dyn ni’n cael llawer o hwyl. Mari is a saint to put up with us, but we do have a lot of fun.
Driving along the M4 recently, my husband asked me, ‘What does that sign say?’ I was so pleased to answer, so casually – ‘Cadwch eich pellter’ - Keep your distance. It’s amazing what can be learned from road signs. But come and learn more with us.
Hwyl fawr
