Listening to Music

Convenor:   Pat Millar   Phone: 01633 891801

Over the past year we have had an occasional departure from our normal routine. We have invited individual members of our group to present a programme featuring a selection of music of significance to their lives. In the unavoidable absence of Kirsty Young, we have dispensed with the probing questions lf an interviewer; instead the presenter has been free to disclose as much or as little of past life experiences as he or she wishes - these programmes have often been quite enlightening!

We occasionally, when feeling strong enough to tackle the technical challenges of the wonderful DVD monitor, watch a DVD. A notable one was "Kindred Spirits" - an account of the relationship and music of Robert and Clara Schumann, based on their own correspondence and the "marriage journal" they kept during the early years of their marriage. This included much of their music, performed by musicians of high calibre such as Simon Keenlyside, Rebecca Evans and Iain Burnside.

We are always pleased to welcome new members to our group; whether they wish to attend "full-time" or just occasionally when the mood takes them - they are welcome.
