A fishy Tale or He Wasn't the Catch of the Day

There's plenty of fish in the sea, they said
There's plenty more fish in the sea.

I fell for him hook, line and sinker, you see.
He reeled me in then said to me
The world was his oyster and I was his pearl.
Now he’s angling after some other poor girl.

But there's plenty of fish in the sea, they said
There's plenty more fish in the sea.

I loved his big mussels and manly bass tone,
I shrimped and I saved for a plaice of our own.
I felt the sun bream at the sound of his name
But I see now I was just a prawn in his game.

But there's plenty of fish in the sea, they said
There's plenty more fish in the sea.

I thought things were brill, and that his sole aim in life
Was to goby a husband with me as his wife.
But he sponged once too often, that shellfish curmudgeon
I told him "Be orfe!" and he left in high gudgeon

But there's plenty of fish in the sea, they said
There's plenty more fish in the sea.

Well, he's had his chips now his dace they are numbered.
I've had a whale of a time with him unencumbered.
The hake in my heart's gone; I'm feeling much stronger,
Now I'm rid of that 'eel, I'm dancing the conger!

'Cos there's plenty of fish in the sea, now I know,
There's plenty more fish there for me!
